Tenant's Insurance

Leasing a Home

Why do I need Tenant's insurance in Ontario?

In Ontario, most landlords require their tenant's to purchase tenant's insurance. Tenant's insurance protects the tenant's (or renter's) contents from damage from an insured peril. For example, if there was a fire and a tenant's furniture, clothing and electronics were destroyed, the insurance policy would reimburse the tenant for all their destroyed contents.
